Privacy Policy

Wispr Notes is built so that we hold as little of your data as possible — for most of what the app does, none at all. This policy describes the little that remains.

1 · What we never collect

Your audio, transcripts, typed fragments, generated notes, personal dictionary, keystrokes, and file contents are processed and stored only on your device. We have no servers that receive them, your account is never linked to them, and we have no ability to access or recover them. This is true on both the free and Pro tiers.

2 · What Free and Plus collect

The Free and Plus versions send us anonymous diagnostic data:

• Install ID — a random identifier generated on install, not derived from you or your hardware;
• Environment — app version, OS and version, CPU class (e.g. "Apple Silicon"), locale;
• Usage counters — which features were used and how often, with durations in coarse buckets;
• Crash reports — stack traces and app state flags at the moment of a crash, scrubbed of content.

Diagnostic data contains no content, no names, no email addresses, and no IP-based location beyond country. IP addresses are used transiently to receive the data and are not stored with it.

3 · What Pro collects

Nothing. Under a Pro license the analytics and crash-reporting components do not run. The only records we hold about Pro users are the purchase records described below (the same applies to Plus purchases).

4 · Purchases

Plus and Pro purchases are processed by Stripe, which collects your payment details under its own privacy policy; we never see your card number. We receive and keep what a merchant must: your email address (to deliver the license key and refunds), the transaction record, and tax data where required. We keep purchase records as long as tax and accounting law requires.

5 · Website

This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies and uses no third-party analytics. Standard server logs (IP address, page requested, user agent) are kept for at most 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

6 · Sharing

We do not sell or rent any data. We share data only with service providers who process it for us under contract (payment processing, email delivery, crash-report ingestion), and where required by law. Diagnostic data may be disclosed in aggregate (e.g. "40% of users are on macOS").

7 · Retention

Diagnostic data is retained for at most 14 months, then deleted or reduced to aggregates that cannot be linked to an install ID. Purchase records follow statutory retention periods. Everything on your device is retained by you, for as long as you choose.

8 · Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data we hold, and to object to or restrict processing. Because diagnostic data is not linked to your identity, the data we can act on is usually limited to purchase records. To exercise any right, email support@wisprnotes.com. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

9 · Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (US) or 16 (elsewhere), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
